Typescript of a journal, supposedly by an officer on General George Armstrong Custer's staff, 7th U.S. Calvary, recounting the Battle of the Washita from the Osage scouts' reconnaissance to the departure of the Cheyenne prisoners for Fort Supply. The journal, along with a discussion of the author's true identity, is published in the Chronicles of Oklahoma, Vol. 36 (Winter 1958-1959), pages 371-410. The article is by George H. Shirk and is entitled "The Case of the Plagiarized Journal".
