employment

Kate
and

she

attractive

invites

dinner
party
where

of the
guests

to
take
advantage
of her.
When
the
uncle
intervenes
, these
guests
are
insulted
and
attempt
to
find
Kate
, but
Nicholas
overhears
their
conversation
and
successfully
stops
them.
Nicholas
falls
in
love
with a
penniless
girl
who
works
in an
employment
office
and
eventually
marries
her.
Uncle
Ralph
commits
suicide
when
he
finds
out
that his
only
son
died
as the
best
friend
of his
enemy
.
Nicholas
becomes
a
partner
in a
firm
and the
whole
family
,
including
their
extended
family
,
move
back
to
Devonshire
and
live
happily
ever
after
